An offset printing method is the most widely used method of printing for business and commercial purposes. It is used mostly when the number of prints to be obtained is large. It is also known by the name lithography. This is the most beneficial for volume printing. It works on the principle of repulsion of water and oil to get the ink on image and water on empty area. It has many advantages which are not there in the other methods. One of them is getting high quality of prints. In other processes, though the turn around time is less, the quality deters. Color combination also plays an important role in getting quality and effective printing. For two color printing or for four color, the offset printing offers the most accurate images. This is highly used for voluminous printing, like for newspapers, books, magazines, flyers, brochures, leaflets, compliments slips, letterheads etc. as the number of prints rises, the total costs decrease. As such, these present viable option for new and small businesses, which have tight budget conditions. There are also options of color types in these. For example one can choose from overgloss, fluorescent, metallic and matt colors. These choices are not available in other methods. It is more efficient also, and gives high resolution prints as compared to other methods. In this process, multiple rollers and cylinders are used, and the ink is then transferred to the base of the materials to be printed.

Apart from these advantages, offset printing has others as well. It can be combined with online printing to get quick results, wherein the design and the templates are selected online. Digital Offset Printing is also a new and feasible option which can be exercised. In this, digital method is used in combination to the mechanical one. This helps in enhancing the quality of the prints, and getting better resolution with sharp images.
